I just finished my cycle.  Transfer on last Friday and I will find out on Monday.  All our pre cycle tests came back great, DH and I are both 28 and they said they thought we would get many embryos.  Had 16 at retrieval 12 fertilized with ICSI and out of those we had many abnormals after PGD and only one normal female, a B grade day 5 hatching blast (hope I got that right) which was transferred on Friday.  I am wondering if I am not pregnant, how can I change my protocol for next time to get normals or are we doomed to get abnormals?  Four of our abnormals had no X or Y chromosome at all and the others were all missing some kind of chromosome.  DH's sperm analysis was great so we are wondering if the ICSI messed it up.  Advice if I am not pregnant on next cyle, different place, doctor, protocol? Anyone else have experience with this.  Please feel free to PM me too.  Hoping I am pregnant, was told 40 percent chance with the one female so I am hoping.  I would appreciate any thoughts on the cycle and abnormals.  Thanks!

Definitely don't count yourself out yet!  LOL!

There are lots of things that can cause abnormal embryos and to be honest the only people that would know how to fix this are the RE's.  If you haven't had your insulin tested then I would do that as that can sometimes cause poor quality embryos as well as increase the chance of aneuploidy.

The other option is to get a 2nd opinion from another doctor.  They can look at your medical history and the results of this IVF cycle and see what they would do.  SIRM offers free consultations and I know I spent 45 minutes on the phone with Dr. Sher and he didn't charge me a dime nor pressure me to cycle with them.  They have clinics all over the US so that could be an option for you as well.

It could be a number of different things.  I know it is hard not to plan ahead but try and think about this cycle and stay positive!!  You have a little girl in there!!!  I am so sorry you are so worried about everything.  HUGS!!!

Did you do MS or just PGD.

FWIW, I was 30 when I cycled.  Dh was 29.  6 of my 10 embryos were abnormal...  The Dr said 60% abnormal was about average for my age.

When will you POAS?  : )  Good luck.  There are a few ladies on here who have gotten PG with a SET!

Hi....I know the frustration that you feel.  I had 23 eggs retrieved, 16 were mature, 9 fertilized, 7 made it to PGD, 2 did not further develop after the PGD, so I had 5. Out of the 5, 4 were considred abnormal (2 because they did not have an X or Y chromosome and the other 2 for another abnormality and they were female embryos) My eggs were also fertilized by ICSI and I had done MS for a girl (my husband had a 92% sorting which is great). I had 1 embryo left and it did not come with a PGD result because the nucleus could not be found when they did the PGD, they told me that could have been because the cell was dividing or because the cells were washed during the process, but the embryo was completely perfect looking embryo at day 5.  I had an 8 panel PGD, from what I have understood up to now that after 5 panel PGD process, the cells gets washed ( I am not familiar with the terminology but thats how they explained it to me), so maybe thats why the nucleus was not found.  I transferred that 1 healthy embryo and I hope it is my little that I am so much waiting for.  I wish you nothing but luck, don't lose hope or faith, I hope your pregnancy continues to be healthy. Lots of luck and love.. :)
