I know this is not the proper forum but I only post here so here goes.  Of those that got it, did you get the thimerosal free one? I have the chance to get the shot tomorrow but it DOES contain thimerosal- the actual amount of mercury is less than what is in a tuna can- should I get it?  What would you guys do?  What have doctors told you?

If you are pregnant they recommend the Thimerosal free vaccine.

I know what TP said is right but I talked with the nurses at the place giving the shots and they said it is less mercury than what is in a can of tuna.  I ate lots of tuna with my first DD before I knew it wasn't good for baby! I thought I was being good and giving her lots of protein!

I *think* the prefilled syringes are T- free but it is in the multi dose vial.

I was able to get a prefilled syringe. My 1 yr old got it from the multi dose vial.

Because the amount is so small, I felt ok giving it to him, and I would have gotten it as well if that was all my OB had.

GL deciding.

Yes, you are correct.  So, all the nasal sprays are T-free but the mutil-dose vials for the shot have it.

mulit-dose vial contains preservative...single dosing units do not.  ask for the single dose units if possible! If not, I wouldn't worry too much!

I was told by both my OB and RE to get the HINI vaccine and that it did not matter if it had the thimerosal in it or not. At the time I got my shot, the thimerosal-free was not available so I got the regular one. I am not concerned because all of the medical providers I have talked to as well as the CDC say it is safe. I trust their professional opinions.

I am getting mine on Tuesday and my OB said you do not need the thimerosal free.  Like others said, the amount is SO small.

I got mine over a month ago and it was T-free. And I wanted to add that I *would* get it if you are PG. A good friend of my sister's has a daughter who lost her baby at 21 weeks from having H1N1... she's now in intensive care with less than a 40% chance of survival, her kidneys have shut down. So sad.

My doctor said to GET IT!  He actually forgot to address it with me during our appt (we spent awhile trying to figure out gender), so he chased me down as I was leaving to talk about it.  I got the the one with thermisaol ... I hope it's okay.  I found research, of course after, saying that there is no causal relationship between the mercury and autism.  And the mercury used in the shot is actually different from the mercury used in the research - it's not as harmful.  I am a non-vaccinator, but I decided to get this one b/c the benefits outweigh the risk, for me, in this situation.

I got the vaccine with thimerosal-  this virus is really dangerous for pg women- my ob told me 2 weeks ago that there were 6 pg women in our local hospital on ventilators.....I think the benefits of the vaccine outweigh the risks- 2  weeks after I got my vaccine my 9 year old got H1N1- I would have totally been beside myself if I hadn't gotten the vaccine.  (FYI- my son was very sick for 10 days but recovered fully - Thank God!- my 7 year old got it few days later but had gotten the vaccine so it seemed to be more mild- my 2 yr old never got it and was also vaccinated)

Good luck!
