Newborn Christmas Gift Ideas?
|
|
I'm stumped. Anyone have any ideas??? We already ahve most baby toys and such from my DS. Family is also wanting me to give them gift ideas. We do need to get a highchair and a jumperoo entertainer thingy. But those are both quite expensive items and not something to throw on someone. What are you getting your new little bundles for Christmas?

I'm getting her a musical toy to go on the carseat and some linkadoos, and a glow worm... and I'm only getting that because I want to call her "Chlo Bug" but other than that I doubt that we'll get her anything.

Haha, I wish I could be as laid back about it as you 2!!! Here I am panicing about how we always videotape Christmas morning and how in a few years the kids will be watching it and Isaac will have a whole bunch of things... and poor little Isabelle will get like almost nothing and then all the questions will start and I'll have to say something stupid like.... "well she wasn't a very good girl that year" or something! LOL (and poor little innocent Isabelle is only 3 weeks old)! I mean, I've picked out a few things here and there.. but nothing substantial. Oooooh what to do what to do. I'm so paranoid about trying to keep things even and not give one to more than the other... and she isn't even here yet!

Mine will be six months old, but I have the same concerns. I remember worrying about this when J was a baby too. The baby doesn't care, but I think it is really important for the older kid to see that the baby gets presents too. We actually went "shopping" in our basement and wrapped some age-appropriate toys that had been R's when he was a baby. Nobody knew the difference, the baby got presents, and we didn't need to buy a bunch of junk we didn't need. We'll probably do that again this year. A is going to be much more interested in the wrapping paper than what's inside anyway!

Since I don't have any other children I am not concerned w/getting the baby presents. I did buy her a couple of books yesterday and decided that I will wrap those just for fun! I think books are always a great option. Of course Santa wants your new baby to be a genius and all

I hadn't really thought about it so currently this baby has nothing for Christmas.
I suspect if she definitely comes out pink I'll maybe buy her something that isn't a gun, a tank, an aeroplane, helicopter, car, truck....but if I don't quite make it to the shops I shall wrap up something "pre-used by the boys"

Ooooo, Diane you reminded me that I told Archie is could buy a present for the baby......really mustn't go back on my word on that one.
I was very careful when I had Henry that Archie was the main focus of Christmas (Henry was only 2 months old at Christmas) as I knew that it may be struggle with the fact he now had a brother to share the whole event with.....although I was very much wrong....they are as thick as thieves!
Note to self.....Take Archie shopping. Another thing for my to do list!

We are actually not getting him anything....lol. He doesn't *need* a thing. And I have issues with clutter. We are doing stocking stuffers though....only b/c I don't want the big boys to question why santa didn't bring their brother anything. But I'll get those last minute....probably just pacis etc.

We only had one thing for our baby last year. The big kids didn't even notice it. We told them that she didn't ask Santa for very much.
How about a Baby's First Christmas ornament? Personalized gifts are things that you wouldn't spend your own money on. Maybe monogramed burp cloths or pretty cloth diapers if you are using them.

I was just coming up with ideas for my little one. Since she has 4 older sisters, she won't need much in the way of toys etc. I like the idea of books, I am cloth diapering and she could use covers, new fitted crib sheets, and some NB outfits (but I bet you all have that stuff). I like the little wrist rattles, or a small toy.
Perhaps older kids could decorate some tees or onesies for baby. Just get some white onesies, the foam stamps, and some acrylic or fabric paint. I find the fabric paint hard to control-if you put some on a foam plate, then use a paintbrush to paint the stamp, that seems to work better. Just beware it doesn't wash out of the brush well, so get a lot of cheap disposable paint brushes.

My boys will only be 21/2 and 19 mths by Christmas, so they still don't understand a few things, like if Maddie doesn't get anything...
I am, however, going to buy her a "first Christmas" ornament. I do that for all the kids. I did buy her a stocking to hang, maybe I'll put her ornament in there...other than that, most likely not much more. I am not even sure if the grandparents will buy her anything, but since my mom has been knitting like a maniac, I may just wrap a couple of the knitted things for her, from Grandma, of course.

Well maybe I just need to chill out about it then! I have already bought a handful of things and she basicly is set on clothes and such. I actually have plenty of personalized burp cloths, cloth diapers, tutu's, hair bows, bottle covers, pacifier clips, and baby legs, since I make my own and even did a few craft shows last year! So I am stocked up already on those. Maybe I should wrap up a few of those things for her :) Thanks for all the ideas ladies! I do need to get her a jumperoo and a highchair... but didn;t want to spend the money for those quite yet!
