when do women typically lose their plug?

With DS2, I drank it at 6pm... BM's didn't start til about midnight (6 hours)... was cleaned out in an hour or so... but it contractions kept coming.. so I just thought I had more to "go"...   The solid contractions started around 2am (8 hours after drink)... and stayed consistant. Got to hospital around 5 am and really needed to push.. and had August in my arms by 5:15am...

So, from drink to baby, I'd say about 12 hours.  That is so awesome you have your RN grammy there...  Has she ever checked your dilation? 

I must have lost mine when my water broke at 38 weeks and never saw it. It was a huge gush of water too so I am assuming that made it come out, but I never did see it.

Gonna start the castor oil in about an hour, need to get a juice jug as apparently my sisters have taken off with the two we had for something. Then I need to be prepared to sit alll day lol. Karl says I should let Layla be and let her decide but clearly she isn't going to and Im facing an induction which everyone says is hard on the mother and baby.

good luck but don;t stress too much you still have 9 days till your induction by then she can come on her own...

 Don't you just love it when our men say "Let the baby come on it's own"... really???!  Have you been pregnant for the last 9 months?? LOL

Good luck... remember it takes awhile to work... so don't drink more if you think it's not working... it'll work , to clean you out, if nothing else.

Good luck! :)  I disagree with inductions being hard though, I enjoyed mine and my babies were all great. :)

Melissa - I know! I always say "buddy you couldn't last a day as a pregnant chick" lol what the hell does he think he is talking about? And then my ob, I love when he says "oh I know, its hard" NO YOU DON'T! Don't even pretend to understand. Made some raspberry castor oil jello. Yum lol but as I said it is taking a while to set. I haven't made jello in ages so I cant remember how long it takes.

Danyel - really? Most women I've heard from complain about how the ctx are 1000x worse when they are being induced and how it was a total mood killer instead of the baby coming on its own.. I hope she does because I want to experience the "omg is it labour?!" feeling. I may not get to this time around

Hard to say!

With DS#1- I lost my plug 2 weeks to the day before delivery.

With DS#2- I lost it about 12- 16 hours before labored began.

Oh sweetie... that's what I thought, and then a few days before my due date, I experienced the, "I don't know if this is labor" feeling.  I don't think I ever had an OMG feeling.   It is soooo hard the days leading to your due date.  You just want to get on with it because you've been pregnant for sooooo long!

You loose the plug when baby pulls it!

Really it seems to vary. I don't recall losing mine until the day I was in labor. I had good contractions for a time, then it seemed every time I went to the BR, I had the red -tinged mucus and had the baby that day or eve. hmmmmm

I don't know about the plug, but your grand still has time.  Im thinking she will come before she leaves. I would be going crazy as I know you are She's coming.
