when do women typically lose their plug?

Sorry!  I have gone over and been induced with all of mine, and it sucks!  Always waiting and wondering when it will finally be your turn while everyone around you is having theirs before you.  But honestly once it's all over you'll wonder what the big deal was, since having a newborn is harder than being extremely pregnant.  I know that doesn't help though.  Also it's hard when you have plans for family to be there for you or want a certain due date.  Hugs!  I really don't have any advice since I've tried everything to self-induce and none of it ever works on me.  Honestly for me the only things (besides hospital induction) that has gotten me to progress any was the doctor sweeping my membranes, sex and walking a lot, and castor oil may have helped a little bit (but the diarrhea wasn't fun).  I lost my plug with my first and last and never went into labor from it, weeks later I was still induced.  With my 2nd and 3rd I didn't lose the plug until I was in the middle of being induced.  Sending ~labor vibes~ your way right now, hope it works since everyone I have ever sent labor vibes to had their babies within a day!  Good luck!   

You can lose yours several weeks before labor, or not at all. It really varies.  I never lost mine with Madison and Evan (I was induced).  But with Ava I was losing it at 34 weeks.  I did have bloody show the 2 days before I went in labor with Ava though.

 Never lost it with DS1 -- water broke so I assume it probably came out with that?

With ds2 I lost a huuuuuuge chunk of it at the OB at my 36 week appt.  It wasn't blood tinged or anything, just a huge wad of mucus. About 4 hours later I started contracting and had a little bit of bloody show after that, and he was born about an hour later. 

This time around I've been losing bits of it for a couple months at least....if I did this with the other 2, I never noticed it at the time! But I've been completely effaced for a couple weeks now so I'm not sure I'll have enough left that it'll be a large amt coming out all at once. kwim?

I don't think losing it or not has that much of an indication of when you'll start labor. 

I don't ever rember loosing mine.  Eat some spicy food and go on long walks a few times a day. If you don;t want to do the deed maybe just try some 4 play.

I didn't lose it with ds1, and ended up being induced 6 days after my due date.

With ds2, I went into labor 2 days after my due date, and I lost the plug during labor...I went potty between contractions, and there it was.  My water broke during a contraction soon after that.  So, you might not lose it until you are actually in labor, so not having lost it yet doesn't mean you won't go into labor soon!

I lost mine 48 hr before I delivered my DS.

I hope you have the baby by the 25th so your gran can be there. Anyway she can extend the visit for a little longer?

I doubt I will go by Sunday... I think this one will be overdue as well like my DS was 4 days late too.

hey mama!  From what others are saying it can be at different times for everyone.  Lost both when I was in labor and contracting at home.  With DS#1 my water broke in bed and when I went to the bathroom out it came.  With DS#2 I started contracting and when I went to the bathroom it came out.

I guess we're hoping it comes out in the next few days and it won't be much longer...which is true cause we don't have much longer to go.

I lost mine 3 weeks before labor, but it was blood tinged right before my first contraction, and after my water broke.

 I never lost it with either boys... just a continual state of really EWCM, all the time, so I'm guessing I just slowly lost it.

But since you are so dilated and effaced, I would try castor oil (I know, I said it before). But it did wonders for me.  My midwife recommends it and acutally used it to induce herself at 38wk due to HBP issues.  I'm too chicken to do it for another couple weeks!  Sitting on the toilet for a few hours does suck, but not as bad as being pregnant for another week or two.  Plus.. you'll be all "cleaned out" for the delivery! 

 i never noticed losing my plug... i suppose i probably lost it gradually bc i did have some sticky discharge but tbh i never paid that much attention to my girly region when i was preggo, hahaha

 oh and it was never bloody til i was actually IN the hospital...i had bloody mucus after one of the nurses checked me. idk if this has anything to do with it but the last time they checked me before i was pushing the midwife said my cervix kinda just melted away as she was checking so maybe that was part of it?? nooo clue

 Yea... you can totally dilute it. But keep in mind, the more you add to it, the more you have to drink.  I remember I mixed an entire chocolate milkshake with my 2 oz of castor oil... thinking it would mask the taste but it didn't work at all. The whole milkshake tasted like liquid lipstick.. so gross.  But it worked!!

This time.... I think I'll take 2 oz castor oil with 2 oz orange juice or coke or something.. and just take it all in one swig, LOL.  PLUG YOUR NOSE and SWALLOW FAST!!  :-)
