Orgalutran??

Hi,

I'm a SIVF patient living in South Australia (first cycle starts end of next week).  I'm finding it hard to find a pharmacy that supplies Orgalutran here.  My nurse suggested it might be easier to order it from a Sydney pharmacy and have it sent over.  Does anyone know where to get it from here (and cost?), or how to go about filling a script interstate?

Hi there, I am also an SIVF pt that is out of state. I managed to find the Orgalutran injections at home and they are $110 each (not covered by medicare). I needed 9 in total and got $500 back from my private health fund........There was only one pharmacy in Canberra that stocked the injections and it was the hospital pharmacy. Maybe call around the IVF clincs in Adelaide and see who supplys their pts.......Our nurse gave us a list of pharmacies in Sydney CBD that stock the needles....If you would like me to give you the details, feel free to PM me and I can give you the numbers. You might be able to get SIVF to fax the script to the pharmacy?! I hope they can send them to you! Hope your cycle goes well.

Our pharmacy ordered it in for us. Took a day or two. Downside for me was that if I needed to cycle longer I had to be ready to order them in. However in the end I found a pharmacy that was near several IVF clinics that had some in stock and bought an extra one from them. So ring around the pharmacies close to any fertility clinics. Also once I ordered them they were mine and no returns accepted.

I think it works out cheaper in the long run (more upfront though) to buy the meds seperately. I made the mistake of buying them 5 to a pack and only got $50 back from my PH fund. Where as if I had bought them like NN I would have got several hundred dollars back.

NN - That makes sense, thank you.  Yes, SIVF gave me that list of pharmacies over there too.  I did call repromed and they will only supply it to 'their' patients, which technically I'm NOT.....I'll only be going there for monitoring.  However, it looks hopeful that there is a pharmacy not far from here who is willing to order it from Sydney (will take 1.5wks to arrive) and at a pretty good price.....plus National Pharmacy discount    I guess it's just trying to work out how many to get, as that is something no-one can predict!  eeeekkk.  Thanks for your help and best wishes with your cycling!!

Chooks Boys - Thanks for the great advice.  I wondered about the 'no returns' thing....bugger.  I will keep that in mind when I try to work out how many to purchase to begin with, keeping in mind it would take over a week to get any more!  Yikes!
