My grandma died the day before I got my surprise bfp. She would have loved to known that we were going to have another baby. I am hoping for a girl to name the baby after her. Her name was Kathryn Anna. Honestly do you think Kathryn is a pretty name? Is it too old fashioned or nice and traditional? I like the name but I want a name others think is nice too.

Yes, I love it!  If I had 2 girls, that would've been my 2nd girl's name.  I love how it can be cute for a kid (Katie), I love the nn Kate, and Kathryn just sounds so elegant to me! Happy

I'm sorry your grandma passed away. Heart Last year, I got my BFP the day before my grandpa's funeral.

I think it is beautiful and very sweet to name a baby after your grandmother. I am sorry to hear that you lost her. What a crazy time that must have been for you to lose your grandma and get a surprise BFP a day apart. Kathryn is my favorite of all the possible spellings of that name, and I also love all the nickname options. I love Anna too. That was my grandmother's name. She died three years ago and I am still sad that she didn't get to know my new baby. My grandfather died a week after I got my BFP with my first baby. I was able to tell him on the phone the last time I talked to him, and we gave the baby his name as a middle name. I am sad he never got to know any of my children.

It's a very pretty name. Personally I prefer the spelling Catherine but that's because it was the name of one of the characters in a book I read when I was younger. My sister's name is Kathy with a K and she wished it were a C. Also, you could also consider Anna Catherine or Anna Kathryn if you wanted to switch it around. Love the name, I say go for it, old fashioned names are IN right now and I think she will love it.

I prefer Kathryn with a K pesonally. My grandma died a few years before my daughter was born but she was very special I used her middle name as my daughters middle name, its not modern (eileen) but i liked it and thought a middle name is a nice way to remember her. My first reaction with Kathryn is its a bit old, cant visualise a baby called Kathryn but I dont dislike it, however I think she might thank you for using it as a middle name. Why not do a poll? do you have any other names you like?

I love it.  I'm biased though.  My middle name is Katherine (after my great-grandmother) and my DD2's middle name is Katherine.

You could call her Kate or Kat.  I like the Kat nickname.  Kate has become really popular around here.

I think it is an absolutely beautiful name! Your Grandma would be so pleased! I am sorry she died, I know that is tough! I have always dreamed of having a little girl. Her name would be Katherine and I would call her Katie. I don't think that dream will ever come true. As for what other people think. It doesn't matter, as long as you like it! She will be a good memory of your Grandma!

Kathryn was the way she spelled to so I will def use that spelling. MomtoRJA yes it was a crazy week. My grandma dies, next day bfp that was very unplanned, 2 days later my dhs mom who is 50 and so close with us is diagnosed with stage 4 cancer that is untreatable. I am now finally getting over the sad things that happened and able to enjoy being pregnant somewhat.... All my grandparents are dead too except one grandma who is totally blind. Its sad they were all great people.

I love the name just the way it is and I love the sentiment.  I am sorry to hear about your grandmother, my grandmother passed away before this pregnancy as well.  She was very supportive and encouraging about gender selection and if this baby is a girl, it will be named Margaret Frances in her honor.
