I'm curious about this. I'm 25 now and ideally I'd like to do IVF when I'm 28 or 29. Would waiting the 3-4 years make a big impact on my chances at pregnancy at this point? Are there any numbers on this? If it would reduce my chances significantly I'd suck it up and do it now.

Not the Dr but I would say everything else being equal at your young age there would not be a discernible difference in your chances of success. The age question comes to bear when you are in your thirties when that 3-4 years (i.e. the difference from being 31 to 35 etc) can be impactful.

At your age, waiting should not be a problem. You could have an AMH level drawn to make sure that you are not teetering on menopause but this is unlikely. If you were 35, 3-4 years would be huge.

What about when you are 35 - how much difference does a year make? or even 6 months?

If you have a normal ovarian reserve, 6 months is fine. One year from now you will have a lower pregnancy rate than you would today
