I started bleeding at about 6 weeks and have been on and off since then .

Now 11 weeks and 1 day off last scan which was a week ago .

I have had three U/s now and on the last one they said I had a subcronic Haematoma (spelling) . The nurse and the doctors have just said to rest there is not alot that can be done .

No heavy lifting , little driving basically do as little as possible (do they have three children) .

My bean last week measured 33mm crown to bum . The haematoma measured 24mm by 28mm .

I really don't know much about it , the doctor said it was pieces of the placenta breaking off , the nurse said it was a sac of blood .

The internet has scared me to death with miscarriage risks etc .

Has anyone had this before or know anyone that has and know if they went on to have a happy healthy baby ?

I have another scan in two weeks but its such a long time off

I thought fourcutiesonelove just mentioned something about this.  Look in the pregnancy forum.  There were some posts on this.  I think I've heard others mention it too, and they've been completely fine.  I think its where the placenta is attaching to the uterus or something, and that it should go away on its own.  FX everything is ok.

I had a very small one that resovled itself in less then two weeks since I had started to spot.  My baby appeared fine at 12w.  I hope yours resolves quickly, I know how disturbing it is to spot and bleed.

I am pretty sure that I have that right now.  It was seen on my u/s @ 6 1/2 wks.  They told me it should resolve itself and that based on where mine was, it wouldn't likely cause any bleeding for me.  They said it happens when the baby attaches to the uterus sometimes.  I don't think it is a big deal.  Let me know if you find out differently.  GL to you!

Yes! I had one with bright red bleeding at 9 weeks with my second son. I was told is was a subchorionic hematoma and that I was restricted from sex and activities. It did resolve itself and by the time I had my gender u/s at 15.5 weeks it was completely gone. It was very scary but my son was just fine. Hang in there!!

Yes Tryin4pink I did just post about this. What I was told is it's a blood clot between the placenta and the uterus and like they told you there is not much they can do but take it easy and pelvic rest. I never bleed and mine is small but yours seems like it's almost as big as your baby from the measurements. I have been told they usually resolve themselves by the second trimester. I know it's hard to do with 3 kids but just try your hardest to rest as much as possible until it starts to heal more. I can't believe their making you wait that long for your next ultrasound. I would ask for one before then. Tell them you need to know whats going on and if it's healing at all and play the "hard to be on bed rest with 3 kids" card to your doc.It sucks worrying I know but I haven't had anyone tell me of their experience where the baby didn't make it.

Thanks fourcuties .

I have had 3u/s already and they don't really like doing them that much .

My doctor doens't have a scanning machine in his office so he has to keep refering me to the hospital .

I am sat here tempted to book my own private one , I could even go tomorrow but keep thinking its only another two weeks till a free one .

Plus I am booking a sexing scan at 16 weeks too which is three days before crimbo , I think hubby will go mad if I book another one lol .

Glad yours is small , mine does sound quite big doesn't it its like a two thirds the size of beany and you could see it clearly on the U/S its almost right next to beany . But he /she doesn't seem to be effected by it and is still hanging in there .

They gave me some hope - they said as I've bleed so much now if anything bad was going to happen it would most likely of done it by now . Hoping on the next scan beany has grown again and that evil thing has shrunk :)

Thanks for your reassuring message though

x
