lower back and thigh pain UPDATE: it was a blood clot
|
|
My lower back and under belly has been in a lot of pain... I've chalked it up to good old round ligament pain, and all the growing and stretching. In the past hour or so, my right upper thigh is starting to kill me. It's so sore and crampy, I can barely walk on it. The left thigh aches a bit, but not as bad. I'm pretty sure my belly has dropped too (there is just so much more pressure down there too). Is the lower back and thigh issues because of the increased pressure of bean dropping? I hope not, because I'm only about 34 weeks and I don't think I can stand another 6+ weeks of this :( Maybe I just slept on it wrong? I don't know... anyone else had this? ETA: also, all this pressure makes my lower back kind of spasm a little. bean on a nerve maybe?

I have been very sore since I've been off BR this week....I think I'm just walking around more than I was used to. Last night we got home and my pelvis, thighs, and back were hurting sooooo bad. I think I just overdid it.

It might be the sciatic nerve. You can google sciatica in pregnancy, and see what comes up, and if that's the way you are feeling. I have it in early and late pregnancy. A heating pad on the lower back, bum area works wonders.

Def. not sciatic nerve. I had a big problem with that early on...and I'd almost rather have that again. This is the front upper/inner thigh. It's so sore that I can barely walk. I don't know what I'm going to do when it's time to leave for my class, or for work tomorrow. I didn't sleep at all last night because of all the pain

when I thought my water had broken, this is the pain that was coming with my ctx!!! My tailbone area and radiating down to my upper thighs.... any chance of being the early stages of labour?

Oh, I hope not... I'm only 34 weeks! I don't know which I fear more.. going into labor this early, or this pain lasting until labor

Oh, I'm sorry. I hope your little one comes soon! I don't know if I can handle this until labor starts though... 6 (or more) weeks of this might just do me in.

I know what you mean... Im sad that it started this early for you, I might be lucky enough to be admitted tomorrow if I dilated to a 4 over the last week.

Well, I'm not going into labor.
I had a blood clot in my thigh. I'm currently in the hospital, on blood thinners. I'm stuck here until tomorrow.. or maybe the day after. Don't know yet :( I'm in a crazy amount of pain. I can't walk, and even lying in bed hurts.
I can't take what they usually give people (coumadin?) because it's a class X so obviously not good for the baby -- so when I get out of here I'll have to give myself shots of heparin twice a day in the belly. I'm terrified of needles, so this is horrible news for me. I started crying when they told me. The one ob said if I ever get pregnant again I'll have to start with the shots throughout my pregnancy as a preventative measure.... I think I might get a second opinion on that though.. I don't know. I'm not a doctor, so I feel so lost.
I was told I shouldn't go back to work, and stay on modified bed rest until either things settle, or the baby comes. There goes half my maternity leave, and bean isn't even here yet. :(
The only good news is that I won't have to be induced like the original plan was. They want me off the blood thinners 24 hours before labor, and you can't really predict that... and they started talking about inducing at my due date, so they could time me going off the medicine. I started bawling and refused... I told the one ER doctor that I had wanted a homebirth, but my insurance wouldn't cover it - so this was an even worse blow for me. He told me his sister had two homebirths and came back and gave me the option of doing the twice a day shots. I can go into labor naturally... I just have to stop doing the shots as soon as I do. I HATE needles, and the thought of shots makes me cry... but this is for my little boy. I'll do it, no matter how hard it is. I just wish it didn't have to be so hard.
My little brother was really awesome and brought me his laptop so I have something to do though :) I love that kid :)

Wow, how scary, I'm glad you were able to find out what was wrong though.

How terrible. Just take it easy. That is something you don't want to mess with. Clots in the lungs or heart are deadly.

Sheesh! How scarey! I'm so glad you went to the hospital though and got checked out! Hopefully they will get it taken care of soon and it will be smoother sailing from now on! Keeping you and baby in my prayers!

I'm so glad that they found out what it was! My bff has a blood clotting disorder, and kept having miscarriages until they figured out what it was. She was tested for the disorder, and had to give herself heparin shots 2 times a day every day, so it might have been the same thing you are diagnosed with. Don't worry, you can do it. She ended up stopping the heparin at 39 weeks (her doctor said she could and she would be fine), and then went into labor at exactly 40 weeks on her own. Baby was perfect, and there were no complications. You're definitely lucky they figured out what it was.
I don't know what they diagnosed you with, but my friend had APS Disorder.
Hope you start feeling better soon!
