I've been trying to convince DH to do High Tech for a year and a half and last night he finally said "I'll consider it." It's not a yes and I'm still not getting my hopes up, but at least he didn't say no (again). Now, I need to gather information about the different options. From what I've already read, I think I would prefer to do PGD for a better chance at getting our girl. I know that there are a couple of hospitals near us that perform PGD, but I'm not sure they will for gender selection or what the cost is. Would you also add MS or just stick to PGD?

Can you ladies help me? I'm not entirely sure where to start. Where/how did you begin your high tech journey if you didn't have any fertility issues?

Congrats that your DH agreed to HT! That's a big hurdle!

Start at this site by reading everything you can: back posts, blogs, "Gender Methods" at the top of this website. I gathered all the info I needed to approach DH in a "pros" and "cons" list. Pros of PGD: guarantee of gender, Cons of PGD: use w/IVF = expensive, etc.

Then I researched clinics in my area that would do gender selection. I did all of this while pregnant w/DS #2 LOL. 6 months after he was born, we had our consult. Fast forward to the present, our DD is 3 months old.

We did not do MS b/c it was not offered at our clinic and we would have to travel (DH said "no" to travel).

Good luck in your journey!

Well, he hasn't actually agreed to HT, just to consider it. So, I'm still a long way off from the biggest hurdle!

I've done quite a bit of searching about PGD- mostly at the GIVF site. I really don't think DH would travel either, so I guess I need to start by looking at facilities near us that will do gender selection. Doh!

Thanks for your reply- it definitely gives me a starting point! My biggest concern is the cost factor-- I think DH will say NO dead in his tracks when I tell him how expensive GS can be. Embarrassed

Sorry, my bad! Worried I should have said that he agreed to consider it. Happy Giggle

I think he will come around. Yes, the cost is a real shock, but downplay it and say you'll forgo vacations and stuff to afford it. That's what I said, but actually didn't really mean, LOL!
