Different gender desire with age?

I have always wanted both genders for as long as I can remember.

My GD comes from 2 areas: 1) worry that I won't have both genders i.e. girls and 2) all the anti-boyness among friends and DH's family.

 I think that mature mums may hold on to the old stereotypes ie boys are more active etc and may feel having a girl takes less energy??! 

This would be my guess.  

I want a daughter now for the same reasons that I wanted a daughter before I had kids, mostly so that I could have a relationship with her like I have with my mom. The older my boys get though, I am starting to find that I have a lot in common with them and we have fun together. So, possibly the idealized version I had of what a daughter would be like is not as strong now.

I think it is more of a visceral awareness of our own mortality and that a daughter in some ways is more like  yourself "living on" bc same gender.  Also, I think people think that daughters will take care of ailing parents whereas sons will not.
