Hello everyone! I have been a "lurker" for a couple of years, and just now decided to formally join you all...I have 3 boys...My second son was conceived about 4 days before ovulation (not on purpose), and my third prince was conceived 5 or 6 days before ovulation (on purpose!!) Also, with my third, I was doing the girl diet, all the girl supplements, Lydia Pinkham, tested my vaginal pH every time before BD. It always registered in the very acidic range; I did the vinegar douche EVERY time we DTD, I placed a wooden spoon and a pink outfit under our bed (wivestale I read about!) I was so POSITIVE we were having a girl. I said to my husband before we knew the sex, "If it's a boy, he is REALLY supposed to be here...and he fought really hard to be here! So, needless to say, he is the light of my life and I couldn't imagine life without him. Not saying that I didn't cry like a baby when I found out it was BOY #3, but still...Anyway, that's my story in a nutshell. So, I have a 6 1/2 yr old, a 4 yr old and a 2 yr old (as of December 3.) I have been researching IVF-PGD even before I got pregnant with my 3rd boy. But I was so sure I could sway and get my girl that way. By the way, if you are thinking about swaying, DON'T. I really believe all of it is bogus. I think it's 50/50 each time, and if someone sways they have a 50% chance of getting their preferred gender. Well, I have been reading posts on here and elsewhere on the internet, and feel that IVF-PGD is my only option. I want just one more baby, and I would really like for that baby to be my girl. I love boys, but I already have 3 of them! I don't have any expectations of my future daughter, like "we will be best friends", etc. I simply want the chance to raise both genders. I just found out yesterday that my insurance pays for IVF, with no documentation of infertility. I cried when I found this out. I have been depressed for the last 2 yrs wondering how I was going to come up with $20,000. I also called the local RE that I hope to cycle with and asked some questions. She says PGD for gender ONLY is $3000, and that of course is out of pocket. Their website says $4800, but that is if they check for chromosomal abnormalities, etc. So, everything is looking better and better. I actually feel like getting my girl is attainable. Bottom line, the RE office quoted my total out of pocket will be around $4500! I will be 34 this month, and really want to cycle before I turn 35. Sorry for the book. I am just really happy to finally be here!
