Hi Dr Potter,

I have what my Dr described as mild 'PCOS'.  I have several cysts on my left ovary and none on my right.  We have two boys (conceived naturally every time first month of trying).  I am 30 years old.  We have been trying to get pregnant for a while and .... nothing. I am wondering if there has been other women who have been through ivf/pgd/ microsort with PCOS.  Would you recommend giving it a go as there is nothing wrong with my husbands sperm?  I do know we have to be careful with over stimulation but we have done two rounds ivf/pgd with no over stimualtion and have resulted in only normal boy embryos.

regards Julie

I am sorry to hear of your difficulties. I have had many, many patients with PCOS do IVF/MS/PGD with success. One of the things that those familiar with this board will predict is that you need to be tested for insulin resistance and treated with metformin if insulin resistance is demonstrated. This can improve response, egg quality and success rates. MS will greatly improve the likelihood that you have normal girl embryos to transfer.
