I AM EXHAUSTED- I FINALLY FOUND THE H1N1 SHOT IN NYC!!!!!

I think I am just in shock- DS and I have appointments tomorrow at some clinic in Harlem to get the shots... After calling millions of places for weeks on end my mom actually placed the winning phone call this afternoon.  We have appointments at 2:30 and 4:30... will have to kill time between school ending at 12 and my appt and then between mine and his- in a place where you don't really hang out in the playgrounds but I won't have to stress about finding this stupid shot any longer!!!! I also won't have to spend my days calling my dr, ds's dr and checking if they arrived and calling all around town to locate it.  Whewwww.... it truly was exhausting!!!!

So glad that you found some.  I haven't yet.  Our ped has them but is giving them to high risk patients first.

did you find the shot with or without Thimerosal.

here in Atlanta, I have been searching a lot for the one without Thimerosal but with no such luck. Today we lined for 3 hour at a free clinic organized by the Health Departament and they only had the shot with Thimerosal in it.. I had second thoughts and did not get it now I feel I should have.

My DH and my mom got the one with Thimerosal. Now is me and my DS to get either this one or find one without. I have about 2 weeks left of pregnancy I am still not sure if I shoudl take it now or wait and take it after baby is born and pass immunity through breast milk..

Thanks everyone. Fata, I truly understand your dilema and I am a huge proponent of without thirmeresol. The clinic said they had them without but I don't know if that is really the case. My high risk ob told me today to get it either way as there is more mercury in the water here in nyc than there is in the shot. Considering so many women are dying from the flu I am going to use whatever they have as I just don't think they are equal risks or the risk posed by the thirmeresol is greater than the risk of complications from sf.

I got the h1n1 shot yesterday. It did have thimeresol in it. There was a dr. answering questions and this was brought up. He said that the amount of mercury in the shot is the same amount as in a 2 oz. can of tuna. He also explained how the research is flawed and the handout from the CDC briefly explains this. I was a bit hesitant but the benefits right now outweigh the risks.
