International and domestic have pros and cons. The decision as to which one is completely personal. Everyone has different aspects of this process that they can deal with better than others.
Have you read about International Adoption? That is where I started. The books have guidance on picking an agency and what is best for you.
I would also look into the downfalls of adopting from a certain country. Ethiopia is a food poor country and not all children from there look like Natea. Many of the children are referred and are severly underweight. I would not adopt from ET unless you are okay with some health concerns, especially those that are associated with malnutrition and poor sanitation. I know many ppl, even some from my own agenyc, who have had children pass away before the adoption was final because of malnutrition related illnesses. Also, for most of you, ET would be a transracial adoption and the ups and downs of that should be fuly explored as well.
Additionally, ET is experiencing some growing pains and many of us expect restrictions in the program very soon.
I guess my biggest suggestion is research. The second phase of my journey has been relatively bump free, but I don't want ppl to get the false impression that it's always so smooth.
I went into this knowing all of these things and feel incredibly blessed that I was spared many of the hardships that come with IA.
