Luvr4boyz:....I love the baby stage, but I have 4 boys....
That is me too!!! I LOVE LOVE the baby stage, I have a friend that said she was just waiting for her babies to get older, I am the opposite as they get older I wish that they were babies again!!!
Nothing you say is stupid AT ALL I am sure that we all have felt it at one time or another. You are all such wonderful ladies and we all deserve to have our gender choice. You are all in my thoughts and in my prayers. Not only to those trying to get BFPs but to those who have gotten their BFP and are waiting to hear the gender...

I need your opinion guys. I'm having a moral dilemma.
I want to go get a cheapy 2D ultrasound to try to get a good nub shot. I'm only 11 weeks. It's only $30. I'm struggling, cuz I feel bad, cuz next week (12 weeks) I have two appts,
but i feel like if I get a good profile shot now, the pressure will be off next week, where I can't technically ask for a nub shot. If I'm paying for it, I can just tell them, I want a nub shot.
But then there's this guilt about it. I won't tell DH. I dreamt I didn't want to do it, but when I woke up, I just feel excited and GUILTY!! It's just for fun, but maybe it's too early.
I really want to do it for some reason, but the guilt is driving me crazy.
It's so easy to just say "wait a week, it's too soon" but part of me wants to try just in case I get a really good obvious shot that there is a chance for a boy. It does happen, I 've seen it. If the picture or the nub is sort of iffy, then it won't help, but if it's clearly a pointing up nub, then I have a good chance for a boy.
OMG. I need your help girls. Should I do it. Why do I feel so damn guilty? Money is really not the issue. $30 is almost nothing. It's the wanting to know I think I"m embarrassed about.

Hi Gardangles,
first of all congrat on your pregrnacy and on the twins, best of luck that you get at least one boy in there if not both :)
about the scan I think you should go head and do it, the waiting game is the hardest game while being prgo, espically if you are hoping for a speicifc gender,
I did the same thing my nub shot at 12 weeks had a 100% girl guesses, I could not hold myself form confirming its accuracy so I schdueld a 14week scan and I went alone no body knew about it not even DH, I felt guilty in the begining but I was the one suffering from waiting and was sooo anxious then I found out for sure it was a girl then at 18 week scan I was not suprised at all to hear girl, I loved how it all came in steps so I wont suffer from GD,
hoping that you will never do, but just in case go head I am sure you will hear the BEST NEWS, twin boys good luck hun

1st, Don't feel guilty...I'm sure that we would all want to know that early if possible. Why don't you want to tell your dh?
I might be getting a little psychological here...Is it possible that you feel guilty because you've been blessed with 2 when you worked SO hard to even get 1 and still want to know the gender? I hope that makes sense and I haven't offended you in any way.
If I were you, I would do it. It's cheap but keep in mind that you might not get a good shot. So, will you be disappointed if they can't get a good shot? Will you feel like you wasted your time & $?

hmm, yes, the guilt is still wanting a boy when I stopped swaying long ago and went thru hell to even get pregnant, and then got doubly blessed. But the thought of a boy is just getting me so excited, then I feel ungrateful.
If I don't get a good shot, I won't be disappointed, I will have gotten it out of my system, learned a lot, and just pretend it didn't happen.
Oh, and I can't tell DH because he is totally cheap. Only does free things. And we had a huge fight over the 3D we did with DD and I pushed that situation knowing he didn't want it. There will be no 3D u/s for the twins. Big fight. Lots of tears.

Don't feel ungrateful. I'm SURE that you feel blessed to be pg at all, let alone with twins.
If you won't be disappointed, then I would definitely go for it...even if my dh was being cheap. Would you tell him after you get the results if you find out what each one is? Or would that cause another fight?

No, I will never tell him. and I'm sure i won't get results at all, just a guess. it's too early. so there will be nothing to tell DH except one might be a boy, which I already told him and he's been on cloud 9 since I told him that.
by the way, cheap is good in some ways because he's not materialistic and he saves money well. I knew he was cheap when I married him, and rich...haha ha. I love him as he is. SO going behind his back is against what he and I believe in....Hmmm. I'm having some doubts...

I hear you. My dh is not materialistic either...granted, money is a little tight for us but he's always been that way. We would probably have a big fight about it too. But I'd rather fight about it then hide it...I can't stand it when I feel like something is being hidden from me. My dh hides' some things from me to keep me from getting upset. I'd rather be upset than him hiding it from me....Kwim? I think whatever works for you guys, do it.

Nicole - I am planning to get a private scan at 16 weeks even though we get them free on the NHS at 20 weeks. I just have to know and am happy to waste the money. If you feel bad hidding it from DH then its though dession to make - do what you feel is best. But with twins it is very hard to sex them. My cousin was told two boys up till 30 weeks - then one 'turned' in a girl! GL with your choice! x

you know, I should wait. If I go thru all the 12week stuff and it's still a question, then I can go get the elective one to confirm. It's too early and a little extreme to go now.
Another thing DH I admire about DH is his self control. I should learn from him to wait and not be impulsive. Not saying I won't impulsively change my mind and go...ha ha ha...
OK, sorry to take over the thread. Thanks for your thoughts. It really helps. Eventually we will know.

Nicole- just know that 11 weeks is still really early. The studies done on 11 week nubs showed I beleive a 60% accuracy rate? Then from 12 to 14 it is much better. 13-14 had a 95% accuracy rate on good shots with straight spines. Let me find the link for you.
