Gas can make kiddies very uncomfortable I know it does with my little fella, before you try the gripe water ect I would try and slow her feeds down to try and stop her from gulping wind.  and try burping half way through a feed becasue sometimes once its to far down they cant bring it up and it goes into the bowel and causes tummy pain. I have done it with my little one (my health nurse doesnt encorage drops ect) and he is much happier.

Good luck with her and I hope she feels better soon

I changed ds's formula to Enfamil Prosobee Lipil, which is a soy formula. That helped out a whole lot with the gas. I also went and bought the gripe water. These things must have done the trick because he is not fussy or gassy like he was before. Last night I finally got a really good nights rest.

That's wonderful Shaven.....how long did he sleep for at a time? My DD slept horribly last night, I'm exhausted, but I think it was because she took the longest nap ever yesterday afternoon/early evening.

He slept for 4 hours straight and only woke up one time for a bottle. I am so sorry you had a horrible night. I know exactly how you feel, I have been experiencing that for a while now. Last night was the only night that he actually slept for a while. I hope things get better for you soon.

Also, my pedi allowed me to start putting a teaspoon of cereal in his bottle which I am only giving him at night. I am assuming this helps him sleep since the cereal coats the stomach well. Hid pedi suggested the cereal to help with gas and to keep his spit up down since he used to spit up a lot too. Talk to your pedi and see if he recommends it for little miss Adelyn

My second has severe colic, it was awful.  He cried during the day but would scream his head off btw 7p-1a for at least 20 weeks.  True colic can last up to 5-6 months.  Diet plays a huge role in breastmilk.  I had to go dairy free and watch everything I ate.  Just something to be aware of.  Gas for you means gas for baby.  Have you tried dr. brown's bottles?  I love them and used them for both boys.  You should give her the mylacon drops before each feed, not after.  I couldn't even console James, that's how bad it was.  Was she better before the formula?  How are her poops?

No, she was about the same. Her poops are good, they've gotten thicker since i've been doing formula at night

I would not do this with a baby so young.  It is recommended not to start solids until around 6 months as their digestive system is not mature enough to cope with anything other than milk.

I posted this on your other thread but Dr. Browns bottles are the best on the market.  My DS changed overnight (he suffered from wind/colic).

I also highly recommend Gripe Water - it is herbal (made from dill) as the theory is that it warms the tummy and helps expel wind.  We added the drops to DS's bottle and he would bring up his wind very quickly (almost immediately).  Also 'Infacol' drops work very well as they 'group' the airbubbles together in the babys tummy and in turn the bigger bubble is easier to pass by either burping or passing wind the other way LOL!  Both are safe for very young infants.

HTH. I do understand how difficult wind/colic can be...

Like I said, the doc recommended  the cereal and I only use a a teaspoon in a 3 oz bottle. Works like a charm for me. I havent had any problems thus far. So check with your pedi and ask about it before starting it. basically, everyone is going to give you advice but  we are not professionals, all we can give is our personal opinions. I would go with what the pedi recommends. You may have to try a couple of different things being that each child is different.

Ok, I'm definitely going to try Dr. Brown's bottles tonight and see if that helps, if not I'll ask Addy's pedi about the cereal.

Dr Brown bottles work wonders, just do not tighten bottle closed while warm, hot, spews out milk everywhere!

carabel... also fab herbal milk thickner, wouldn't do cereal in bottle,

gripe water and infacol drops

big believer in baby massage, in Scotland we can sign up for baby massage courses, failing that, we were shown colic massage from a book at antenatal classes.

Hannah does the same thing and they told me it's colic. I am not real sure if I believe them or not since she has gas a lot and I think it's just bothering her belly. Anyways, I only use Dr Browns bottles and I can tell a huge difference and she's drinking the  Nutramigen formula and it has worked wonders. Gas drops did nothing for hannah but the gripe water sure does. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one dealing with it.

There is something called colic calm I saw online that helps fussy babys but I don't know much about it.
