what is best time to ttc boy?

well, thought we'd be going for it this month, I should O around Sunday I think, but here i am with a head cold, ear infections and decongestants and being really slack on getting my diet right due to lack of appetite/lack of care since i've been so sick :(  so, for future reference...what is the best time to ttc a boy?  abstain until O day?  what if I get O day off by 1 day early?  I understand that abstaining increases the sperm count, but part of me is hesitant about abstaining because it seems that abstaining=older not so great sperm.  so would it be better to bd with condom until O day?  Dh is on vit.e, zinc and b12 and that is all.  part of me is ready to get frustrated and give up, grrr.  i always feel so confused

When I did my study on FF charts, I found that BD one time the day before O had the highest rate of boys. I think one time on ovulation is good too, but the statistics were a little lower for it (possibly because some charts with one time BD on O were really O+12 charts).

Also, I think with timing for a boy, you are supposed to aim to abstain 4-5 days to maximize the number of boy sperm. So if you aim for BD once the day before or day of O and once 4-5 days before that, you should be good. I think abstaining only results in less healthy sperm if you abstain 7+ days (which is why abstaining that long favors girls).
