I'm looking for a recipe that is similar to the soup Golden Corral serves, with the thick noodles. Would prefer to make the whole shebang in the crockpot, but stove-top will work, too.

We're all sick and that sounds sooooooo good. Some other restaurant makes a soup very similar, but I can't remember who it is.

can't tell you about Golden Corral recipe but I can tell you how to make a chicken soup!!!

1 whole chicken

2 small onions (peel)

1 bunch of celery staks

1 bunch of carrots (peel)

1 bag of parsnips (peel)

1 bunch of curly parsly

salt  to taste

Boil a whole chicken with 2 cut up small onions in a large pot  for 1 hour.  The water in the pot should just cover the chicken by about 1 inch.  Once water boils reduce heat and bring to a simmer.  Salt occationally.  In the mean time  cut up carrots, celery, parsnips, and curly parsly and leave to the side.  After chicken has cooked with onion for 1 hour add all the above veggies and cook for another hour veggies and chicken everything together.  Salt in between to taste.  Once the 2 hours of cooking is done.  Let cool and take chicken out of soup for de-boning.  Put all de-done chicken meat back in the soup.  On the side cook wide egg noodles (follow direction on the bag)  Add your noodles as desired to bowl then add soup.  Yummy Yummy!!!

This is my time-saver recipe: Use whatever is leftover from a Rotisserie chicken (the kind you get pre-cooked in the grocery store). Throw it in the crockpot, cover w/chicken stock, throw in a bag of frozen mixed veggies, a bay leaf, some garlic and whatever other spices/seasonings you like. Take the chicken out after it starts to fall apart and shred/chunk the pieces and get rid of any bones. Add rice or noodles (that you cook separately) closer to the end.
