OUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hate Facebook!
|
|
I cannot stand facebook either.
I just went on it this morning to find out 3 mothers that used to be in a mother's group that I created all have a boy and a girl. One has 2 girls and a boy but she had a girl first then a boy then another girl.
I am the only one in the group that had 2 girls.
I do not have a facebook account. I feel it is a way of just showing off. I know most of the world has an account, but I find it a show offy thing. I mean some people do not do it that way but most do I feel.
Stay away from facebook. I should take my own advice. I go on fb and I am upset the entire day.

I know, it is tough to see that stuff -- even if it is not something you would want to do (like the pedicure), it is a reminder of the things you feel like you're shut out of. I have a friend on FB who is the mom of 4 boys, and sometimes I will see mutual friends posting things like "Cassidy had soooo much fun at the princess party today!" Or Brownies. Or getting her dance recital costume. Or whatever. And I will wince on behalf of that mom -- but instead, she is the opposite, she loves hearing about all the girl stuff, she is always posting, "I can't wait to see the pictures!" I wish I could bottle that feeling and sell it so the rest of us could have it! Wonder if she would agree to a brain scan so I could figure out what makes her tick!

Drat, I just got in touch with someone I knew via Facebook & I found out he & his wife had a baby & thought 'Oh, nice' but then I found later it was a boy & I felt so envious & a bit angry - but I feel like that with anyone, wether its on facebook or just reading about what gender baby celebrities have had - Like why should that bother me, people I don't even know?! But it does & you can't avoid everything, you just learn to get less upset? [I hope!]

There is this girl I've known for years. She never, ever wanted boys and had 2 of them. She ended up adopting a DD. She rarely EVER posts pictures of her boys, they are all of her DD. DD is around 4 so it isn't like she is a baby and changing all the time.
It just makes me mad that she is so focused on her DD that her boys seem to be ignored. They deserve better.

Maybe she only wanted boys? I think if I'd've got what I 'ordered' -[2 or 3 boys]- then I'd be happy to read about parents doing girly stuff with DDs, taking an interest in my friend's DDs while also happy that I'd never have to actually do that girly stuff myself, maybe?!

They had a boy or two boys first and then a girl, and you never hear about the boys, you only hear and see pics of the girl. I don't like seeing that. Sadly, I also wonder if I would have done that if it would have been me.

Ooer - I don't post anything about DDs on facebook, I wonder if it'dve been different if I'd had 2DS; if I'dve been more show-offy, been a bit annoying obbsesive, or I might have been the same. But I definately wouldn't elevate 1 gender above the other, thats really sad & damaging for those boys, or anyone that gets treated like that, I'd always hide my GD.

Last Christmas I went through that when my good friend posted pictures of her daughter opening her "my little pony:, and her princess outfit, and worst of all (to me) PINK mega blocks!! I was like, PINK mega blocks? No! I will never have those, I thought they only came in primary colors!! So weird, I know they are only blocks, but for some reason I always associated them with boys. Oh, and the holiday dresses they come out with every year. A GD shopping nightmare.

I don't intentionally do it but I post way more about my boys. They are so much more interesting rightnow, always saying clever things. They crack me up. I think people would tire of, "DD pooped her diaper today," or "She is sooo cute" type things.
I think people who have been through GD are careful about being sensitive to others, at least I hope they would be.

Yes, facebook can hurt. This isn't GD-related, but I thought you would appreciate it. I recently bought a pair of jeans that made me feel like I had a half-way decent shape for the first time since my pregnancy. That very day, a high school acquaintance (who has never had children) posted this on fb: If
you have a large and bulbous mid section and teeny tiny ankles, then
fitted mom jeans that snugly fit up under your breasts make you look
like an denim ice cream cone and you should be mercifully removed from
society. This has been a public service announcement. So now when I wear my new jeans that previously made me feel good, I have to wonder if the rest of the world thinks I look like a denim ice cream cone. Thank you so much.

FB can suck for this type of thing. One of my friends recently adopted a baby girl (she also has an adopted son) and someone wrote on her wall "Congratulations baby boys are great but baby girls are THE BEST!".
Dude. That's offensive to everyone.

"Cat's in the Cradle," anyone? I can't help but wonder also if a lot of it has to due with how girls "love the camera" more. Maybe that's why these little girls are featured more?? For example, I have a couple of FB friends who have 3-girl families. They often have the most beautiful family pictures of all of them!! One of my girlfriends posted one the other day, and I'm ashamed to admit it made my heart hurt a little bit. It's nearly impossible for me to get all of my boys to sit still and look at the camera for a great shot, especially my 3 year-old. He sees a camera and BOLTS!!!

The two posts about women who adopted their DD and then clearly stopped giving a crap about their sons and had the gaul to let everyone on facebook know that they love their girls more makes me feel kinda sick.
If this one is a boy too it makes me feel like I should be happy, just move on and be happy because it makes me better than people like that. It makes me feel icky to think about having a preference for one over the other. My parents had 1 of each gender and they never showed any favorites. I would aspire to be like them!
