Day 3 Report

So, I have 3 embies left. I got a call from my favorite nurse Lori that Dr. Potter wanted for me to come in to talk. I thought for sure he was going to recommend a 3 day transfer and that the 3 embies looked horrible. I went over to HRC and after waiting for an hour with my DH and 20 month year old apple of my eye boy (which by the way isn't easy when you are waiting in the "operating :room not consult room) Dr. P came in and showed me that I have 3 out 5 that are doing well.

I have 2 8 cell embies and 1 6 cell. He graded them an A, A- and B+.  We, after much much much consideration decided to send them off to PGD. My husband made the final call. His whole theory is that we are doing all of this for a specific goal. To get a girl. Dr. P said then we should definitely PGD them.

Trust me I am very nervous. I could lose all of them in the process and they could all be viable girls. If this doesn't work out and I have to cycle again I would go 3 day if in this position. That also makes me nervous btw what if I didn't even get 3 again. Dr. P was very encouraging and thinks there is a good chance that it will all work out. He said that MS has been producing awesome results lately so I could go into a 3 day feeling good but he thinks that they are strong enough to make it.

those are some strong sounding embies!!!! I think that R4P had similar numbers and got twin girls, so nothing suprises me in this game!

Good for you for making a decision, and going for it! Glad you had dh with you, and were able to talk to Dr.P. He does make time to do this talk to us overemotional chickies--and bless his heart for it.It is such a tough tough decison, and you sound like you are comfy with it.

Fingers crossed that you get 3 healthy girls to transfer!

PS-sounds like those are the 3 follies that you saw at the get go--funny how that happens!

CC so funny that you are the first to respond because I was just reading your blog again since we had similar "obstacles" with our cycling.

You had so many more go to PGD and had no transfer your first cycle. I think you said 3 were 4 cell. Do you remember what the rest were.? Out of my 5 only 3 to PGD so I am consistantly losing half along the way. I am really hoping for at least one. Dr. P said that he was concerned about the B grade. He explained why but it was so challenging to listen because my son had had it after an hour wait and started really fussing.

I seem to think I had 2-8 cells, and 1-7 cell, and the rest were below that. None were of great quality. I would have to look back at my blog again to remind myself. Thank goodness I wrote it all done, as I have seriously lost some brain cells.

I do seem to think that there was an A, an A- and maybe a B...but seriously cannot recall now. THey were defintely all very poor though as a whole, and that they were badly fragmented. Enough so for Dr.P to call me on day 3 to make the decision to PGD or transfer. Dr.P told me the same thing as you--I had come all the way from Canada for a purpose--get my girl. My dh had gone home, my heart and head filled with panic on the phone trying to decide what to do. Waiting4Elle and ThinkPink both said the same thing as Dr.P though--I had come to get my girl--they were there with me.

So, yes, that cycle ended up with a bad result--no transfer, all abnormal. But, you live and learn-poor stims based on a great pre-cycle FSH. It was very very very very very very very hard to go home with no embies in my belly. THe embies that looked bad on day 3 were bad looking on day5.

Cycle 2, MS, no PGD. Better protocol. A willingness to take home a baby, knowing I did my best to try for a girl and have a transfer. Baby girl puking on my carpet at the moment.

Im a bit jealous that you got gradings, I only got cell counts for mine... (does anyone know what grade is usually required to be considered a good candidate for PGD?)

Oh Steffani! they sound like strong little embies....here's hoping for all three to be beautiful healthy girly girls! Remember, more is not better, BETTER is better!

You know what, my embies didn't get graded either. My clinic was very non-chalant with my info. They never gave me my levels when stimming, I had to ask. All I heard was which embies looked good, and which didn't. 

Good luck! Do they send out your embie cells? Mine got shipped to NJ via fedex. I was so worried about them!
