Hello there,

I know not all clinics ask for the Clomid Challenge test and I wonder how valid it is in the whole scheme of things as if it's important then surely all fertiitity clinics would ask of this worldwide prior to any TX?

I am wondering if its worth doing this before proceeding at a clinic that doesn't do it?  I would be interested in your experiences please. If you did the test, what where your results, did you still cycle if not recommended? did you get good number and quality embryo's? bfp? bfn? etc etc....

Thanks so much

I did do the CCT at the recommendation of the drs at my clinic. No fertility issues - they just wanted a baseline, probably since I'm "Advanced Maternal Age"; Unfortunately, I have no recollection of the exact results except that everything looked good. All of my cycles with embryo quality post MS are posted in the High Tech Surveys if that helps.

Also, I'm pretty sure a lot of women on this board skipped this test.

You won't know how you will respond to the meds until you shoot up.  BUT, if your results from the CCCT show elevated levels of FSH, you doc can start you out on a higher dosage to try and get a better response b/c statistically you may be harder to stim.  There are exceptions to every rule in this game but without the test, your doc is just making an educated guess as to what protocol to put you on and what dosage to start with.  There is also a AMH test that is newer than a CCCT that shows ovarian activity at any time of the month and does not require you to take any drugs.  Some docs feel it is a better indicator of reposne than the CCCT.  It can't hurt, that is for sure.  The more information you and your doctor have, the better IMO.

ITA with all of this.  Alot of docs just go off your day 3 FSH level and if there is something screwy then they can always do other testing to confirm their assumptions as to what your ovarian reserve is.

Some docs do ask for this.  If yours is, I would do it.  It can only help.
