I have been putting off doing this area because..well it sucks lol. So the new area for the week is........
The Kitchen!
Each day I will post a cleaning challenge for this area. If we do a tiny bit each day then it wont feel so overwhelming.
Today's Cleaning Challenge is the Oven & Cook Top & Range hood.
Lets get this horrible job out of the way. Spray your ovens with an oven spray & leave for as long as necessary.
Grab an old toothbrush, steel soap pads & cleaning products. I use a cream cleanser & a kitchen spray.Use your sponge & clean the whole cook top. With a toothbrush clean around the knobs or any hard to get to areas. Make sure you clean around the cook top itself with a toothbrush as built up food & scum can get stuck there. For hard to get off spills..use a steel soap pad or a magic eraser.Wipe with a warm cloth. Then spray with a kitchen or multi purpose spray.
*If you have a stainless steel cook top you can use some vinegar & water on a soft cloth. For heat stains you can try some club soda on a soft cloth...it may take a few attempts to work. When it is clean put a small amount of olive oil onto a cloth & shine. If you have heating elements....take them out & clean thoroughly...& change over any foil plates if you have them. I have a glass top & use a special cleaner for the glass.
When the oven is ready...put some gloves on & clean out the oven.Put some paper towel or newspaper on the floor so it is easy to pick up any mess that comes out.Wipe down all the oven racks too with some hot soapy water. Use your old toothbrush to clean around the oven seals. Once the inside is clean. Clean the outside too with the same cook top hints.
Range hood....dont forget to clean this too. For a quicker clean...grab a magic eraser..it saves heaps of time.Check the air filters too & replace if you need to.
Now it is clean....once a week get a spray bottle with some bicarb soda in it & spray the oven...let it sit over night & wipe out. This will prevent a build up of grim & it will only take a few minutes.
Tips
*When a spill occurs wipe immediately. After every use...wipe down & shine. It wont take that long & will save you having to do a big clean again.
