New hospital policy & I am not happy @ it
|
|
My two boys went to their sibling class at the hospital tonight. It was great, but they would not do a tour of the maternity ward like they usually do because the CDC has decided that due to the flu outbreak, no children under 16 (including siblings), are allowed on the floor until MAY at the earliest. That means they won't get to meet their little sister until we bring her home !!! I can understand the need for caution, but it still sucks.

my sister in law is having a baby in two days via planned c-section and they won't let the boys come either! Anyone under 16 is not allowed because of the flu outbreak:( that really stinks...she's in Orange county CA.....congrats on your new baby coming though!

Aww! I understand your frustration. I too, will be upset if my girls can't come see their little brother at the hospital. I DO understand they are trying to protect our precious little babies! It still stinks though :(

Wow! If this happens in our area, our family is in for an unhappy surprise. I insist on my child/children being the first people to meet the new baby after DH and I. So...that means all grandparents, aunt, uncle, friends, etc. would be waiting a few days too I guess. Having no visitors in the hospital sounds kind of lonely, but it's worth it to me...the baby's siblings are the most important people in baby's life after the parents IMO. That rule, though mildly understandable, STINKS! I'm sorry you have to go through that.

This rule has been put in place in all the hospitals in my state, and they say it will be EVERY hospital in the US. I am so sad, my oldest is soooo disappointed. I work there, and they won't even make an exception for me . This policy is also to protect the siblings from being exposed to all of the junk in the hospital, but I am soo sad!

Same at my hospital, except it's hospital wide not just the baby floor. My older one will be disappointed and the little one probably won't even care. However, I like this b/c it means my sister and SIL can't drag all my nieces/nephews up there. Drives me batshit when people bring their kids up and want them to touch all over my new babies!

I think thats awful! Siblings should be allowed, IMO. This is one of the reasons I want a homebirth with my next baby.

All hospitals in our area of Texas are under this policy too. My sister had her baby on August 7th and I could not take my 14 year old or 7 year old up to see her. I totally understand, but it still stinks!!
