Hey old friend, didn't know you were going for a consult. Hope it went well. Looking forward to an update.

Thank you all for thinking about me!!  I had my consult yesterday with Dr. P.  It went better than I expected.  Right after my failed cycle, I asked what he would do differently for my next cycle and he had said nothing, just up the stims from day 1.  The more I thought about it, the more I wondered if I was over-supressed from the BCP/Lupron combo. As some of you know- when I had my cancelled MS/IUI last January- I had an AFC of 15 with no meds.  Then, in July after Lupron and BCP my AFC on day 1 was 7.  Big difference!!   So I brought this up to Dr. P and he agreed that the Lupron might have oversupressed me and that we can try something new next cycle. So, we will be doing the Microdose Lupron Flare which basically means I will start my Lupron and stims together instead of being on the Lupron for days beforehand.  Hopefully, this will work for me.  There are a lot of conflicting views on this protocol on the Internet and I decided I had to stop reading!  I emailed Lori about my concerns and her response was that the MDL protocol DOES work well for many of their patients and that I should be excited to try something different and hopefully get different results!  So I am excited.  We'll be cycling again in January.  Dr. P said that there was an 80% chance that we would have something to transfer this time and a 45-65% chance of an embryo snuggling in if transferred (depending on how many are transferred). I'm fine with those odds and looking forward to January! I'll keep you all posted.

Pippi that is wonderful news!!!!! I am so glad that you are doing this protocol. I definitely think that you could have been over-supressed.

I had a terrible first cycle and Dr. P upped my stims from day 1 and as you know it didn't work. I am continuing this cycle because I am already in it but if this doesn't work I definitely want to do what you are doing. Nuthinbutpink had a much better cycle when she did the protocol you are will be on.

Did he say why some people can be over-suppressed? Are we sensitive to the Lupron?

So glad to see you back! I have missed your posts on here and glad you are looking into your next cycle. Sending lots of prayers your way! Hopefully 2010 will be a great year for the both of us!!!

Great news!  I like the Microdose Flare protocol.  I had better luck with it as did a few ladies that I cycled with in the past.  In fact, Waiting for Elle, not only got Elle on that protocol but two sister for her as well!

Sounds great.  FWIW I did not do BCP leading up to my flare cycle either.  I just didn't feel it was necessary at all to suppress my ovaries any more than they had to be and I have never had a cyst in my life.  Good luck!

Really?  Isn't that the same, basically, as saying 35-45% chance of a cycle working?  I think those odds are about right based on surveys on this board.

It's so good to hear about this protocol working for others- thanks for the encouragement!  I'm excited to be posting again and looking forward to 2010! 

BTW, I did ask about not using the BCP and Dr. Potter said that he would drop the Lupron, but not the BCP.  He said that with a high FSH- the BCP tend to make better quality eggs in his experience.  I thought that was interesting...
