ready-for-another?

I've recently began to wean my DS from nursing and found out the hard way that he can't drink milk! His eyes both were swollen shut within an hour. So I got soy milk and now he has diaper rash, has anyone known soy milk to cause diaper rash and if so what did you do from there? I would really rather not continue to nurse on a regular basis. I don't know what to do next, please help.

At 13 months my son self weaned and I started giving him milk, he always seemed to have diarrhea and like it burnt his skin awful. I took him to an allergist and they confirmed his milk allergy and put him on soy. When we switched him to soy milk he then was throwing up and had diarrhea and was confirmed through blood test that he is also allergic to soy! He still now takes Elecare formula at 2 1/2. Elecare is made for babies with severe allergies and costs $50 a small can! He is also allergic to Eggs, beans, peanuts, legumes, milk, soy, tree nuts. I would take him to an allergist to get tested and go from there. Good luck!

The diaper rash has gone away, it may have been a virus. I'm still nursing 2x a day. Did you ever try goats milk. What do you do about cheese? With 2 other ones who love mac-n-cheese and pizza, I just don't want him to always feel left out!

Sorry, I just now saw you responded! Well, no.. I took him to see an allergist at childrens hospital and kids allergic to milk, also can't have goats milk. WHatever it is they are allergic to in cows milk, is also in goats milk. Cheese.. he just doesn't eat it, as well as all other dairy.. yogurt, pudding, creamy pasta, even a lot of hot dogs, lunch meat, and sausage have milk in it. It is not fun having a kid with allergies. In a lot of things even if it didn';t have milk, it had soy...(which he is also allergic to), there were lots of things he wasn't able to eat. Lots and lots of label reading... milk and soy are in everything!

Man, that really sounds challenging! Good job! I think that I'm going to ask his Dr. to have him tested, I want to make sure that I'm not hurting him-he can't tell me!

Thanks!
