I can tell you as an L&D nurse it is pretty much standard practise that anesthesiologists dose their spinals with Duramorph when they administer them.  Beleive me you want DURAMORPH it is a good thing.  It doesn't make you feel loopy, it doesn't make you forget and it won't make you miss out on any time with your babies.  In fact it will make the first 24 hours with your babies more enjoyable.

The biggest mistake Mom's make after a c-section is trying to fight the pain.  If you  accept some pain medication, to keep your pain level under control you will enjoy those precious first few days with your babies so much more.  When women don't keep their pain level under control it gets too high it becomesso difficult to "bring back down" or get back under control.  Then its just miserable for everyone.

Remeber the nurses are there to help you not to pump you full of pain meds and thus out into oblivion.

When I had my c-section for the Triplets there was no way just plain Tylenol or Ibuprofen was going to cut the pain for the first few days.  I took Percocet (Tylenol with codeine).  You do not have to take a full dose just take enough to cut the edge off the pain.  It wears off in 4 hours so don't worry about it lasting for days.

You will be fine......You be do AMAZINGHappy LOL

Thanks!  It's just that I so rarely take pain meds that I usually have a strong reaction to strong pain meds, especially the narcotic types.  All sleepy and nauseous...I will be bugging them for an anti-nausea if I DO use those types of painkillers.

God I might be addicted to percaset if it was over the counter! lol. Seriously that stuff takes away the pain! I only took one and could have taken two at a time but it makes me feel loop if I take two. I had some left over and took one the other night after the kids went to bed. I had a horrible headache and it was completely gone and I felt so comfy. lol. Good stuff! Agree
