Hi ladies,

I need some help with what kind of vitamins and supplements are good for a FET.  I am trying to move past my recent miscarriage and focus on something positive.  I have one little frozen embryo left which I will probably be able to transfer this coming December or January.  For my IVF cycle I was taking a prenatal vitamin, folic acid, calcium and magnesium, vitamin E, Omega 3-6-9, vitamin C, wheatgrass and royal jelly.  Out of all those I think I can eliminate the royal jelly because I think that was for egg production but what about the others are they worthwhile to take again?  Also what about taking baby aspirin starting now would that be a good idea?  Any advice or input would be appreciated I cannot find a lot of info on the internet about FET's and vitamins.  Thanks!!

I think the cal/mag are only about gender swaying to make your body more acidic to accept female sperm. As for me, I didn't do anything other than the prenatal vitamin which includes the folic acid.  Not sure anything else would hurt, but don't know of specific benefits for IVF. GOOD LUCK!

I have no idea, especially since, w/ my fresh IVF cycle, I only took pre-natals and baby aspirin.  Just wanted to wish you luck!

I would drop the calcium and magnesium, wheatgrass, and RJ/BP.  Then I would add baby aspirin, other than that I wouldn't add anything.

Good luck with your FET!!!!!

Hi Michaela, I'm glad you responded you seem to know a lot about vitamins/supplements.  Just curious why you would recommend to drop the calcium/mag and the wheatgrass?  Also would you recommend starting the baby aspirin now 3 months out? Thanks.

The calcium/magnesium are in your prenatal and I don't think you need to take more of it unless you have a deficiency or were told to take it.  The wheatgrass is for egg quality so you don't need that for an FET either.  At least I have never heard of these helping with implantation.

It won't hurt you to start it now.  I started taking baby aspirin when I first started TTC and I never stopped.  LOL!

81mg

IMO you can start it any time you want.  It has other health benefits besides fertility but you have to make sure you tell your doctor you are on it.  You may have to stay on it for the whole pregnancy or up until a certain time.  You can't just stop taking it if you become pregnant.

I agree with Michela!  Taking the prenatal vitamins coupled with low dose 81mg aspirin would be good idea.  However, ask your RE about the aspirin and make sure they know that you have added it to your supplements as well.  I took aspirin as well and prenatals for my FET.  Good Luck to you and please keep us update on how you are feeling and when you are cycling exactly!  TJ

Oh yes good idea too!  I did accupuncture! Found it so relaxing and the points my clinician did were suppose to relax the uterus to help with implantation!  Definitely something to consider too!

I did acupunture for the first time on a weekly basis for my last cycle starting a few months before.  I think the acupunture and vitamins combined with the right protocol made a huge difference for me.  I went from having 5 eggs each time in my first two cycles to having 21 this last time....night and day!!  I will definitely do the acupunture again for my FET.  Thanks for all the input.

I asked my RE if I should start taking baby aspirin a few months before I plan to cycle and he said there is no evidence to support it helping but stated he would encourage me not to until he tells me (as part of my cycle) as it can cause the lining of the uterus to bleed when he goes to put the embryos in b/c aspirin thins the blood. He said he would not want to risk that....SO...for me I am going to follow his reccomendations...hard to really know.

Hmm, that's an interesting point.  Thanks for sharing.
