So, thinking my 6 week postpartum checkup would be routine, I was surprised to find out that I have stage ll uterine prolapse - where my muscles/ligaments in my pelvic floor are weak and my uterus is actually freakin' sliding down (TMI).  It may stay where it is or it may descend even more - WTH?  Doc said that it is not uncommon, esp after having so many kids, and that surgery is simple to repair it.  BUT, in case you guys didn't know, I am the BIGGEST BABY when it comes to needles/IV's (have never had one), etc and have already gotten myself worked up about this and don't even know if I will need the surgery or not.....  Anyone else ever heard of this or know someone that has ????

I dont really have any advice, but I am thinking of you! I also hate needles of any kind... good luck getting the epidural and IV's in lol

as for the surgery, my gran had to have this done and she wasnt out of commission for toooo long... she had 6 kids and so at the end she had a prolapsed uterus. While in there, she had some 'other procedures' performed and now has what she likes to call a 'design-a-vagina' Happy ROFL

My mom has 6 kids...2 of those are twins...me being the oldest.  I was on the phone with her one night a couple months ago and she went to the bathroom and found that her uterus was literally hanging out of her.  She immediately hung up with me and went to the ER...she has a stage 4 prolapse and is scheduled for a partial hysterectomy in Oct...she has some other problems they're going to take care of as well.  But yes it is common the more children you have and the treatment can range from medication and a prostetic (sp) device similar to a diaphram that holds the uterus in place...to a hysterectomy.  Now a days most surgeries...even my moms hysterectomy, can be done laprascopicly...you won't even need stiches...you have 3-5 little puncture holes where they put the tools in and do all the work internally...they use a special super glue for the holes with some butterfly bandages over the top...You'll be fine!

hoping for anothergirl

A  friend just had this surgery and she intends to have another child and it took about 2 weeks to recover (much like a c-section).

Baby Boy and Baby Girl and no longer hoping but have a full-term Baby Girl

Geez, doc made it sound like it was nothing much at all and that it was just one night in the hospital ..... now, I don't know.  I'm gonna wait and see what happens since I have no "outward" symptoms and I had no idea I even had it.  However, if DTD is painful (and he said it may be), then I'll have to go ahead and get it done I guess ......

Gosh.....I haven't heard about this! However, I'm sure I probably have it too after 5 children. I know I am going to have some bladder work done and I am counting the days until my 6 week check to schedule this. Are you having any problems with this?

He asked me about that and I really don't have this too badly.  However, if he has to keep my uterus from "falling out", then he said he could do this at the same time .....  might as well have it all done, huh???  I wonder how the Duggar woman's parts don't fall out ??? (18 kids and counting woman - she must have one tough uterus -   LOL )

She must have to wear extra extra protection all the time! Did you know you had uterine prolapse before your 6 week? I think I am scaring myself silly with having this along with the bladder thing. I am scared I will have to have a big surgery and have to wait until I am done bf. I need to exercise! And with our dd being our last I will not stop bfing until she is ready.

My aunt had the same thing. She had the procedure to fix it and everything went very well.

No, I had no idea at all and was shocked - don't worry yourself though - you probably are fine!!  I still don't have any "symptoms" that would even lend me to believe that something was wrong - just that normal feeling that you get after having your 6th kid and not being quite healed yet .....  Let me know how you make out at your 6 wk checkup.
