Holy moly! I was (and still am) freaked out about twins, so I can't even imagine what you must be feeling! The first thing I recommend is grabbing a copy of Dr. Barbara Luke's "When You're Expecting Twins, Triplets, or Quads" - it helped me SO much! I think you'll find that your OB will not handle you as strictly as the book recommends, so I try to stick to the dietary recommendations, rest time, etc. of the book the best I can (though not perfect by any means). Second, I recommend seeing if you have a local multiples group for support. We have one here in Austin called Austin Moms of Multiples (AMOMs) and it has been a God-send. All the support and experiences of women in the same situation, or with more experience has been invaluable! Third, you'll want to make sure you get a perinatologist (also known as a maternal-fetal specialist) in addition to your OB - a doctor that has extra schooling and training in high risk pregnancies. Other than that, just try to hang in there - you WILL adjust to the news eventually. And it's definitely scary, but multiples are so much more common nowadays that doctors are more equipped than ever to handle them.
