vasectomy failors

Oh my gosh you guys, I was at a homeschooling meeting last night and there were 2 women there who told us of Vasectomy failors.  The first was 8 years after the v (yes he was checked a year later) and the other was 6 years after and he was also checked!  So if you dh gets the v either buy a scope and check every once in a while or also use a back up! 

Holy cow! It's like those crazy stories you hear about someone getting pregnant and their husband ends up leaving them because they've been fixed, but it really IS their baby! er.... maybe I just watch too many soap operas

oh ya get this, My friend has a friend that got her tubes tied and her dh got a vasectomy.   years later she was pg!  He didn't believe he was the father so they got a paternity test.  Sure enough her tubes grew back an so did his!

I REALLY worry about this because I just do NOT want any more surprises!! I am at a stage in my life I do not want any more children.

That said my dh said he would get checked every 2yrs because of course EVERYperson I know and every client I have has a story of someone who's Vasectomy failed yrs later. My dh had 0 sperm 4 months after his vasectomy... but it has been over 2yrs now!! I want it checked again!!

Uh oh...I didn't know that happened that often! What are the chances of it happening a year after he's been checked?

As scary as this would be or upsetting....I would be THRILLED if I ended up getting pregnant by my DH..he had a vesectomy about 8 years ago.....right now we have sperm frozen waiting for us..if we ever get to start our IVF journey....

BUT..I would be one of the rare ones I guess....getting pregnant by my DH would put me on cloud nine!

Of course DH would probably not think it was possible...but I have never cheated on anyone in my life and never would..so a paternity test would certainly prove that...

We have a friend who is expecting her 4th child next month after having her tubes tied three years ago. Her doctor told her that this happens to about 1 in 2500, but about half are ectopic pregnancies, so having a viable pregnancy after a tubal is about 1 in 5000.

I also have a good friend who got pregnant with an IUD. For the number of people I know, it just seems like I know too many people who have beaten crazy odds!

My DH had his (catorized) burned at the ends. does that grow back too? Oh well if it happens its meant to happen.

Ooooo....  I knew about the failures but trying hard not to think about it!  LOL  I'm having my tubes tied ASAP after baby is born and I really, REALLY don't ever want to be pregnant again!  LOL  Woudn't surprise me if it happened though - my DH and I seem to have beaten most other forms of contraception...

I know three famiies (at our church) who had failures.  One was my BFF.  She was done after three, DH got the V and had all the appropriate tests to confirm zero sperm count.  She got preggy again when I was preggy with DS.  She cried for weeks.  Now she know's it was God's will ,but she was so upset for a while. 

Now she has her tubes tied and her DH had another V. 

Ok I am sorry to barge in but have to remind you girls we had a VR and and it scarred over and we tried for well over 2 1/2 years to get preggers with no luck so remember as scary as those stories are they can always go the other way too...... I would kill for a surprise bfp right now!!!

Usually a Vas is a very reliable birth control option!

I'm with you too on this one Deech...I would be the happiest person if I got a BFP....my husband's vas. (that he got 8 years ago before we met) however, has seemed to worked and we probably will never get that kind of surprise....

Just knowing that we have 10 vials of sperm frozen and have yet to figure out if/or when we will ever get the chance to even try is bad enough....or maybe it's the check I had to send out for the storage fee.....uggh....to just be able to concieve for free would be a dream!!!
