I finally pasteruized the eggs today! and they seemed alright... but my BBT could'nt show any temp above 110, it simply kept showing 'HI'... the water seemed hot and I couldnt put my finger in it for more than 30 seconds.. how hot is water @ 150-160? or do I need to change my BBT?

The BBT most likely wouldn't be calibrated to read temps that high..... do you have a candy thermometer that would work much better

A candy thermometer is used to check temps of fudge and toffee etc.  You need a thermometer that will handle the high temp that you need for the water.  These thermometers will be found in any kitchen store or Walmart.

This is one that I found on Ebay    http://cgi.ebay.com/CDN-TCF400-Candy-and-Deep-Fry-Thermometer-NEW_W0QQitemZ390137001108QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item5ad5fa3494

This one is from Amazon...

Are eggs bought in a super market usually pasteurized? I looked at the container I have in the fridge and it says nothing about it being paseurized. It's Egg-Land's Best. I think this brand is sold all over the US.

I think that Tamara had said that the pasterized eggs have a "P" stamped on them.

Oh, that's good to know, thanks! I always assumed eggs would be pasturized.

Me too!  I always just assumed they were.  So if you get the eggs with a P on them you don't have to go heating your eggs right?  Happy LMAO
