I did some research on this when I went on soy.. i was terrified of clomid because of the chances of having twins.. soy does not seem to up your chances of twins like clomid does.. that is what I came up with with all  the hours of me looking it up ...

folic acid ( lots of it) seems to be one of the natural ways.. as is yams and some other foods. you may want to do a bit of reseach on it..

I do not know anyone that has taken soy and gotten twins.  I have seen quite a few women take soy and all have singletons.

Hi there, I drink tonnes of soy milk and I had twins.  I was trying to conceive twins so I ate yams on and off for about 3 years and then when we knew we were going to start ttc I ate yams (with the skin on as that is where the phyto-estrogens are) every day for about 5 months.  I also ate lots of flax seeds too as they are also rich in phyto-estrogens.  I am convinced this works.

My last pregnancy I would have loved to have twins again but phyto-estrogens are boy friendly and I really wanted a girl so I cut out the soy, yams and flax seeds and we got our little girl, but just one this time.

Good luck!

I haven't read anything about soy, but I've been doing some research on the subject of conceiving twins. I've started a blog about it, the link is below if you are interested in checking it out. I have identical twins and I have no clue if my diet had anything to do with it. I believe it's genetics whether twins are fraternal or identical. Good luck.

 HI,

Soy can slow down your thyroid, and one of the side effects of a slow thyrpid is difficulty getting preggos, and if preggos the chance of miscarriage increases :)

Best of luck!

To my GD baby, you forever changed my heart.

And then I saw you for the first time, and my Soul went,

I had a thyroidectomy 15 years ago, we were told at that time we would no longer be able for me to conceive. Well, of course we did surprisingly and I swear it was only because I booked my wedding! Lol. It did take years of actively ttc and when we gave up, it happened. I no longer have time as a luxury and a few other problems arose so ivf was our only option. I stopped the soy, I can't take the chance of another m/c and just had my thyroid levels checked again the other day. (I still have a bit left). I am wondering now if the soy slowed down my hcg doubling? Anyone know if that's possible?

Hi TeresaG,

I Just read your post. I no you wrote it awhile ago but I am hoping you will reply!

It is my dream to alos conceive baby boy twins.

However, in the other forums it says soy does not sway boy? Do you more information on this?

Also, did you take folic acid? I have read that 2000mcg of folic acid increases your chances of conceiving twins?

I am going to start eating yams, flax seeds and folic acid and hopefully will start to drink soy milk too?

I hope it works!

Thanks

lilgift x

Hi Lilgift,

I remember when I was trying for my daughter, I didn't have soy milk at all, and it was only because I had read somewhere that it was a boy food.  I am lactose intolerant so I had a really hard time with all the cow's milk on the girl diet!) I can't remember where I read it now, it was most likely on this site though, as I got all my info from this site.

I did take folic acid. I took the recommended amount for pregnant mums, which I think was 400mcg? I don't remember reading anywhere about taking higher amounts of folic acid for twins, but I don't think I had found this site when I was trying for my twins.

Make sure you eat the yams with the skin on, as that is where all the phyto-estrogens are. That is the key - the phyto-estrogens. I think edamame beans may be full of phyto-estrogens too?

My husband ate the yams too! that wasn't really necessary but it was good for moral support! and neither of us have eaten a yam since Nov 13th 2006 - when we found out I was pregnant! We totally sickened ourselves of them! but it was worth it!

Good luck and I will be sending you lots of twin vibes!!

T x
