Danielle's 4th ultrasound: GIRL

Published Tuesday, September 13, 2005 8:35 AM

Four ultrasounds say girl, but two Baby Gender Mentor tests say boy.  Will Danielle be bringing home a Christmas baby in pink or blue?

See Danielle's blog for her latest update and ultrasound pictures.

Just saw your ultrasound picture and mine is so similar. Acu Gen said that I was having a boy. I had my 20 week u/s a couple of weeks ago and three people including an MD said 100% it was a girl. Acu Gen did another test and said a boy again, and then claimed that they are 100% right and an ultrasound is only 80% right. All I know is with my son the ultrasound didn't lie and it was very obvious that it was boy. I have never met anyone who had a false u/s read. I am very frustrated seeing all of these women who are being told false results by Acu Gen. It has also been very distressing for me the excuses the lab gives me and the rest of you. They don't seem to realize or care the emotional damage they are doing to us. I have already filed a complaint with the FTC and feel that the only way to find out if this company is a scam is to use legal means. You can go to the FTC website and file an electronic complaint if you feel compelled to. Acu Gen would not admit to us that they might possibly not have such a great and accurate technology on their hands and I feel they are scamming thousands of women. The thought of sending in a birth certificate scares me. Why would I want to send such an important document to a company I believe are not legitimate? I feel that they have fed on our vulnerabilites and I am in the same boat as you Danielle. They told me yesterday in my 22 week to get an amnio. Totally disregarding the fact the repurcussions that come with doing one. Crazy! Anyway, your pictures say girl and so do mine. I would love to know when you are due so I can check back to see if you did in fact have a girl. I hope you get your 200% back. I am curious to see if the company will stand by their word.

Dear Frustrated,
we are in the same boat and from the bottom of my heart I am so sorry that you are having to go through this. I know the frustration and worry you are feeling. I am not sure if you have ready my journal on this site, but the president of the pregnancystore.com
( Sherry Bonelli)even went so far with me as to send me a two line e-mail saying that "the lab suggested I get a karyotyping of the chromosomes of the baby"- suggesting that there is something genetically wrong with my baby bacaue there test could not be wrong. Can you imagine the tears I shed? Again, like you, this would require an unnecessary amnio that I am unwilling to do-nor would my OB even consider this based on the recommendation of a company and a lab and a test that he has never even heard of. I am actually due Jan. 10th, but this will be a scheduled c-section so the baby will come about two weeks before that. Yes, please keep tabs on me and I will do the same with you. Keep me updated- it is so comforting, and yet sad and frustrating, to know that there are others out there going through the same thing. I would love to see you ultrasound pictures-if you send them to Maureen she can post them for you if you are interested in sharing or in getting opinions from others. Good luck- try to relax and enjoy the miracle inside you from here on out- you'll be in my thoughts and in my heart as will your baby! Danielle

Danielle,
I'm in the same boat. Acu-gen said BOY and 17 wk ultrasound said GIRL.

Now I just don't know what to believe. What do you think?

I'm not the only one either. I have 2 friends who took the test. Acu-gen told all three of us BOYs and ALL our ultrasounds say GIRL. It stinks b/c, like you, now we are just totally doubtful.
AND it was painful to bond with a little boy that I might not be having.

I plan on complaining to FTC as well.

I also took the accugen test and it told me boy, after sonogram and amnio, I'm having a healthy baby GIRL!. Hope they give me my money back like they said...

Add me to the list. Acu-Gen says boy but 4 sonograms and 3 different people (one OB and 2 sono techs) have all said definitely a girl. I don't mind losing the money as much as I mind being so confused. I have 3 boys and really wanted a girl this time. Even though the sonograms all say girl, I am afraid to get my hopes up because of the Acu-Gen test. I asked them to re-test and they did so in about half an hour. Doesn't that seem strange since it takes at least a day to do the first test? How are we to know if they really re-tested or not. Since then, they are not responding to any more of my questions. Wouldn't you think they would want to defend themselves and the product if they could? I am afraid to buy anything for the baby and when I do, I try to buy something that I can take back 4 months from now. Do any of you know of anyone that took the test that has actually given birth yet? If so, was Acu-Gen correct for them?

Your ultrasound picture looks exactly like my first baby girl's. It's a super clear picture. It's not too frequent that they can take a shot this clear. Also, I just had an ultrasound for my 16 weeks one. The tech said it's a girl, but she was only able to get the view at a approximately 45 to 60 degree angle of that area. So, all I can say to you is, get ready to celebrate the new arrive of your baby girl this Xmas.

I am the proud mother of 3 boys! Their ages are 9, 6, and 2. Acu-Gen gave me another Boy in my 12th week. When I had an U/S in my 17th week the tech said 99.9% Girl. My 20 week U/S with a MD said 99.9% a Girl. Two more 3D sessions have shown me in 3D the girl parts. I know I am having a girl and I haven't had any difficulty purchasing pink dresses! I will blot out any personal info to on the Birth Certificate and take my $550 refund! So to those of you in the same situation.... enjoy your pregnancy and the thought that you are getting a daughter!

I posted my gender shot from 17 weeks 3 days in the URL and I will try to post it here as well
