Egypt considers high-tech gender selection

Published Sunday, August 14, 2005 8:48 AM

al-azhar in CairoReligious scholars in Egypt recently condoned the use of sex selection techniques for Muslims, although only under certain conditions. While scholars of the Qur'an believe that intervening in the fertilization of an egg to determine the baby's gender defies God's will, others note that the Prophet Zakaria prayed for God to endow him with a son.

However, everything is contingent upon God’s will. If somebody wants to have a son, his dream would not be fulfilled unless God destines him to have a son
